Justin Evans doesn't teach leadership from a textbook—he's lived it in the fire station, the factory floor, the council chambers, and the boardroom.
By day, Justin serves as Director of Operations for an aerospace manufacturing company, where he manages HR, Quality Assurance, Production, and a team of 65 employees. He's built systems that work under pressure, developed leaders from the ground up, and learned that the best management isn't about control—it's about trust, clarity, and serving your people well.

But his leadership journey started long before the shop floor. After September 11th, Justin became a Resident Volunteer Firefighter and EMT, serving for five years at Station 93. In those years, he learned what real leadership looks like when lives are on the line: clear communication, emotional stamina, and the ability to stay calm when everything's on fire—literally.

That service shaped everything that followed. Justin spent eight years on Bonney Lake City Council, including two years as Deputy Mayor, where he navigated budgets, community conflict, and the messy reality of public leadership. Today, he serves as a Fire Commissioner for East Pierce Fire & Rescue and sits on nonprofit boards including GoodRoots (fighting food insecurity with dignity) and the Johnson Cancer Foundation (supporting families affected by cancer).
Why This Matters for You:
Justin's cross-sector experience means he understands leadership from every angle—operational, political, nonprofit, and frontline service. He knows what it's like to:
-
Manage under pressure when deadlines, budgets, and people's livelihoods are at stake
-
Build trust in chaos whether it's a manufacturing crisis, a council meeting, or an emergency response
-
Develop people, not just manage them by coaching employees to grow into leaders themselves
-
Navigate conflict with integrity in boardrooms, campaigns, and community settings where emotions run high
-
Balance accountability with empathy because great leaders hold standards without breaking people
His book, Try Not to Freak Out! A Field Guide to Leadership Without Losing Your Mind (Or Your Team), captures his philosophy: leadership isn't about perfection or having all the answers. It's about trust, humility, patience, and showing up for your team even when things get hard. It's about asking the right questions, creating clarity in chaos, and measuring your legacy by the people you develop—not the metrics you hit.
